"Serving is different from helping. Helping is based on inequality."

A brilliant piece by Dr. Rachel Remen.

There is a distance between ourselves and whatever or whomever we are fixing. Fixing is a form of judgement. All judgement creates distance"

My father is a doctor. I learned about fixing first-hand when I was dropped off a finishing school as a young teen to be fixed up. At that age I wasn't able to see to the intention underneath. The helplessness and fear that can lead one to fix. If you grow up learning that fixing is a form of love, you can experience it that way. I too am all too tempted to think I can fix almost any problem or person.

Who tries to fix you? Who or what do you try to fix?
